Law of Attraction

What’s interesting about the law of attraction is that it really doesn’t matter whether you believe in it or not, because it’s always going to be around you. Whether it’s something you make yourself completely conscious of, focusing all your thoughts around, or whether it’s a term you’ve never even heard of, we’re all affected by the law of attraction in a multitude of ways.

But what is the law of attraction? It certainly seems to be gaining more and more popularity these days, especially as more and more people are becoming aware of what it is and the power it possesses. The law of attraction simply states that our thoughts will find their way into our lives. So if a student is constantly thinking he’ll do well in his studies, then at the end of the semester, he will indeed do well. If someone is pouring a lot energy into their home business, constantly keeping positive thoughts and envisioning the business doing well, then the business will eventually be successful. This is exactly what the law of attraction represents, that the more we focus on something, the more it will find its way into our life.

The thing is, whether you believe it or not, when you constantly focus your thoughts on something, mentally, you’re going to be drawn to whatever that thing is. If I’m constantly focusing my thoughts on how successful my home business is going to be, then naturally I’m going to pour more energy and time into such a project. You can see how this creates a kind of TAG cycle, (thoughts, action, growth) and that once your thoughts get started, they’ll inevitably lead you into action. Of course, this is all assuming you don’t believe in the law of attraction to begin with. I’m simply providing a logical explanation in the event that you completely disregard everything the law of attraction stands for, showcasing how the law of attraction can still work itself into your life.

But what if you do believe in the law of attraction? I for one do, and while I can’t force anyone to consciously make it a part of their lives or thought process, I think that anyone who does keep the law of attraction in mind while making decisions will actively see the role it plays in their life.

What do I mean by this? That if you purposely try and keep your thoughts positive and uplifting, stop dwelling on the negative, and consciously make yourself aware of the law of attraction, then you will indeed see its benefits. On the same note, if you constantly remind yourself of what you don’t have, focus your thoughts on things you don’t like, and find yourself surrounded by other negative people, then you’ll notice that more and more negative events seem to spring into your life.

Personal Experiences with the Law of Attraction

I first became aware of the law of attraction when I was working a retail pharmacy job. Regardless of how I went in there, the job wasn’t something I thoroughly enjoyed or found even remotely stimulating in any sense. That being said, some days I was there for a good ten to twelve hours, usually understaffed, and many times I had upper management breathing down my back because something wasn’t executed properly. I think most of us can relate to the fact that when something like this begins to happen, we eventually wake up with feelings of dread when it comes to going to work. I’d wake up thinking of all the problems I’d have to fix from the previous day, of all the patients who would come in grumpy and irritable, and of what new issues my boss would find to complain about. I hated it. I dreaded going in, and I dreaded the beginning of the week, knowing I had a full week of work before I had some free time again. I was stuck trading my time for money five days a week and I felt terrible. Any excuse I could find to get me out of that place I took, and anytime I could leave early I did.

After some time I realized that I was stuck in a cycle of negativity, constantly thinking about how bad my day was going to be, actually having my day turn out bad, and then having my thoughts reaffirm that yes, this job was indeed draining me. The problem was I had to find a way to break this cycle, to get out of this negative thought pattern. I knew that things weren’t going to change overnight, but if I could at least go into work with a more positive mood, then I could better carry myself throughout the day. Even if problems arose, if I didn’t let myself get stressed out over them or let them eat up my thoughts, then maybe things wouldn’t be half as bad. This is when I discovered the law of attraction firsthand.

Even though I wasn’t fully aware of what the law of attraction was, I decided to at least “fake” a positive demeanor. That even if I wasn’t fully happy, I’d go into work carrying a smile and trying to be upbeat. If a problem came up, I’d do my best to solve it and then forget about it, not stressing over it for days or possibly even weeks. Of course, initially this was easier said than done, and I still found myself drifting back to negative thought patterns occasionally. That being said, even though I wasn’t consciously aware of what the law of attraction was, I knew that if I could at least think more positively, then I’d feel more positive too, and in turn possibly even rub off on those around me.

Once I had started doing this for about a week or so, I realized that even though work was still busy, we were still understaffed, and that patients were still grumpy and irritable, the day just felt a lot smoother. I no longer dwelled on problems; if a patient wanted to be grumpy and complain then I let them do so without having it bother me. I realized that it honestly didn’t even matter how nasty most of them got or how many problems arose throughout the day, I felt happier and more refreshed. Mentally I didn’t feel so bogged down and I definitely felt a huge alleviation of stress from within myself. Much like my negative thoughts led to a negative cycle, my positive thoughts led into a positive cycle, where those same thoughts led to positive action around me.

This is why I think it’s irrelevant if you believe in the law of attraction or not. Whether you choose to actively take part or merely take things as they come, your thoughts will inevitably play a role in dictating what goes on around you. In keeping yourself full of negative thoughts, you’ll too notice that you view things with a negative eye. Even if nothing negative appears to enter into your life, subconsciously, your mind will constantly be searching for these things.

The Law of Attraction and You

Once you’ve realized the power of the law of attraction however, you’ll soon notice just how many doors you can open up with it. You’ll find that just by keeping your eye on the goals and successes you desire, that you’re better able to move forward and make these thoughts a reality. Even though I eventually left my pharmacy retail job in pursuit of a means to achieve passive income, the job was much more bearable and at times even pleasant once I learned how to control my thoughts and focus them on the positive instead of the negative. The law of attraction isn’t just about keeping positive though, it’s about thinking of the things you want in your life and making it a reality. About staying focused on your goals and successes, forgetting about the things you don’t need.

That doesn’t mean that because I think of a million dollars, that when I wake up tomorrow morning there’s going to be a million dollar check with my name on it waiting to greet me. Rather, the law of attraction works exactly in the same manner that it’s titled; it attracts certain things into your life. If a million dollars is truly what you spent all your time thinking about, then over time you’d find yourself becoming more and more financially secure. This isn’t to say it would happen in a week, a month, or even in ten years. However, if it’s something you’re consciously aware of and striving towards, then the law of attraction will eventually bring it into your life.

This of course leads to the next inevitable question, what happens if I can’t stop myself from thinking of negative things? Does that mean my life will be filled with a negative environment? In short: yes and no. In you constantly dwell on the negative, then that’s what your mind is going to seek out, regardless of what comes into your life or not. At the same time, it’s never too late to consciously make the decision to go from leading a negative life to a positive life. Law of attraction or not, getting rid of unwanted negativity is certainly a success in itself, and you’ll feel a lot better not having to deal with such things.

When you think about it, the law of attraction is really pretty simple. It doesn’t require any special talents and it’s always active in all of our lives. It doesn’t matter what you look like, how much money you make, or what you do for a living, everyone can take full advantage of the law of attraction. Even better? There really aren’t any drawbacks. By focusing on the positive things in your life and striving towards what you do want, not stressing over what you don’t want, what do you really have to lose? If nothing else, you’ll find yourself in a better mood, less stressed, and more energized; something we could all benefit from.
